Shades of Earth

Shades of Earth by Beth Revis
Across the Universe Book 3
Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3)
4 stars

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn't the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed's former passengers aren't alone on this planet. And if they're going to stay, they'll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been for nothing.

"What?! No. It can't be over!"
That was the first thing I thought when I finished Shades of Earth, the final book in the Across the Universe series.
I was a little late getting into these books, as I started (and quickly finished) book one only weeks before the release of Shades of Earth. I've never been a really big Sci-Fi fan, so I had never really paid that much attention to them, but when one of my friends raved about them, I caved.
Shades of Earth follows Amy and Elder as they finally land Godspeed, after it has traveled over 25 trillion miles. But the new earth might not be as perfect as they thought. Someone or something has their mind set on destroying the new colony, and peace is not an option. Not to mention the problems with the now un-frozens. Will this be the end of Amy and Elder's story? Or is it just the beginning?
I loved Shades of Earth! The story, characters, and plot grabbed you from the beginning, and wouldn't let go. Read this when you have some uninterrupted time, you won't want to stop! The one thing I did not like was that it did not have an epilogue at the end. That's not necessarily bad, but my favorite parts of books are always the epilogue! :)
I give Shades of Earth by Beth Revis 4 stars, because it was an amazing ending to a great series!
