Legend

Legend by Marie Lu
3 out of 5 stars
Quick Overview:
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths—until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

What I Thought:

Don't let the stars turn you away, this was a good book. The color of the cover is awesome- just saying, I think the silver and gold looks really good together. :)
One of the few things I didn't like about the book was the text. The book is narrated by two different people, and both people have a different text color and font. I don't know why, but that messed me up a little while I was reading it.
For the actual book itself, it wasn't bad. It was just kind of stuck there in the middle for me- I didn't dislike it, however I didn't love it either. I liked how much action "Legend" had and how it was easy to follow. I really liked the storyline of how two people, with two completely different lives could come to understand each other.
I would also like to add that this is yet another book to a series. Oh yay.

I guess, like I said in the "Delirium" review, I'm just getting tired of dystopian books. I think that this book was just almost getting to the 4 star point, but just didn't hit the nail on the head.

  1. I agree. I thought this was kind of middle of the road- but very readable. I read this during a phase when every single hyped book I read was just awful. So, I had no expectations for this book other than, "Nice Cover". But, I liked it- 3 stars. Which is a good rating and means I liked it, I mean 3 stars even officially means liked it on GR.
